Whitney Houston Wanted to Quit Showbiz
Whitney Houston — who recently released her eagerly-awaited comeback album — has revealed how she wanted to set up a “food cart”. The Heartbreak Hotel hitmaker says she was so desperate to quit showbiz and escape the limelight, she pondered moving to a small island to focus on raising her daughter and looking after her aging mother.
“Three-and-a-half years ago, I was thinking about moving to a small island and setting up a food cart,” Whitney said. “I was just ready to lie back and raise my daughter [Bobbi Kristina Brown] and just watch her grow and nurture her.
“And… I wanted to spend more time with my mum [singer Cissy Houston].”
Houston said that she never doubted that she would return to the stage. “Absolutely,” she said. “I was born into it [the music industry]. I am an entertainer’s child.”
